07.16.06 - Sunday Wrapup + Requests

Today was a great first day in the city. We started off the morning with our worship service. What an exciting place to see God’s hand at work in a ministry. We watched a real and exciting and vibrant church worship. The group sang Complete in Thee together to start the service. There was a time for the church to share a Psalm with the group. It was so exciting to hear new converts stand and read the word together. They sang so wonderfully. It was a blessed time together. Our violin trio played Doxology and Beth and I sang just before the message. We enjoyed the noon meal with the church and mingled and met many of the people from the church. What a great way to start the week! We were able to see first hand the effects of what we are doing here this week!

After lunch, we packed some tracts into backpacks and headed for Coney Island. It was a hot day, and there were a lot of people there. Check out the pictures post to see the photos of the beach. People were everywhere. On the beach, walking the boardwalk, sitting, barbecuing…We walked back and forth on the boardwalk handing out flyers and witnessing one-to-one. Many of the groups got into some great gospel conversations. The subway rides there and back offered us very good oppurtunities to share the truth.

After our outreach at Coney Island, we headed back in for dinner. A few strombolis and a salad later, and we headed back out. armed with tracts and hopes to see a lit up skyline, we boarded the Staton Island ferry for a ride past the most beautiful skyline around. It was a beautifully clear night, and we had a blast together. It is a a late night, but we are pumped about the rest of the week.

Pray for our sports outreach in East River tomorrow afternoon.
We are taking a bigball, footballs, soccerballs to a park with hopes of drawing a crowd to witness to.
Pray for our energy.
The heat takes its toll. And we are expecting record temperatures this week.

Pray for the power of the gospel.
Pray for open doors in conversations, receptiveness to the truth and the boldness to speak.

Praise the Lord for the service today.
I think we were blessed more than we shared today!
Praise the Lord for giving us oppurtunities.

Praise the Lord for the riches we even have to share!
