06.04.06 Meeting

OPENING UP…
One of our goals in all the preparations for the trip is that we would grow unified as a group. We started our meeting off with a game of Imaginiff. We found out that everyone thinks that if Alyse was a fashion faux pas, she would definately be socks with sandals. We also decided that if Josh was to run over the neighbor’s cat, he would not alert the neighbors or even give it a proper burial…nope, he would either sneak a replacement and act like nothing happened, or run over it again, just to make sure it was dead. And of course, Jonathan’s nickname was unanimously chosen to be Nature Boy.

PRAYER…
Our time spent in prayer was very profitable. We rehearsed some of the attributes of God that we needed to remember as we prepared for the trip. We reminded ourselves and each other that He is strong, huge, able, our perfect sacrifice, right next to us, a help in time of need. We asked God for patience and a burden. We took our inadequacies before Him and asked for love for the people we were going to be ministering to. And we asked God to help us keep our focus on why we are going…not just for sights and fun, for the sake of His name.

DISCUSSION…
We spent some time learning how some of the logistics of the trip will work. See page 11 of the notebook. (Download it here…) We walked through what the building is like that we are staying in. The main things were emphasized: Prayer, Listening, Cooperation, Flexibility. To keep our focus and attitude right we mused on the gospel. We let our thoughts drift to why we should think about it, how much we should think about it, and what happens when we are filled with an understanding of the gospel. See page 7 for the worksheet.

ICE CREAM…
For a mid break, we popped out some ice cream and root beer. Floats and Sundaes! See what you missed.
WRAPUP…
In our closing, we talked about ideas for giving out tracts. What should we say, how should we address people…when should we talk to them. Page 11 street talk was the handout, and we filled in ideas for one-on-one, street meetings, and tract distribution. In closing, we discussed what to bring and not to bring.

FORMS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Report Card time! Who has been doing well with thier forms, who has turned in only 1 or 2. Make sure you are praying with your parents, make sure you are keeping up with your requirements. 2/4 are due for the 14th of June. Don’t be late on those. We talked about the book report. (Last page of the appendix) And finally, we discussed the info sheet. (Its got all the great stuff on it…put it on the fridge.)
